ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Innovation in endododontics represents the application of research and technology to improve treatment outcomes and to overcome the challenges encountered during the endodontic experience for both the patient and the dentist. While the patient’s experience is of paramount importance, this presentation will focus on the endodontic experience for the dentist/endodontist.

Laser-assisted endodontics is emerging as one of the more important technologies in the management of endodontic disease. 

This full-day lecture will review the role of lasers in clinical endodontics.  An evidence based, laser-assisted treatment protocol will be presented that maximizes deep dentinal cleaning and disinfection, while maintaining foraminal patency, facilitating canal shaping and promoting drainage and decompression of periapical tissues.  Emphasis will be placed on predicting endodontic outcomes with confidence and overcoming the complications encountered in daily practice.  These include management of anatomical challenges, calcifications, patency, perforations, retreatments, resorption, separated instruments, unfound and inaccessible anatomy as well as the removal of intracanal medication. 

The concept of single visit endodontics will also be explored.  While this affords many advantages to patient and dentist alike, this lecture will illustrate how the addition of laser technology promotes the high level of endodontic competence required to achieve these benefits on a consistent basis.

By re-thinking treatment concepts and putting to rest many of the dogmas that have governed endodontics for generations, the introduction of this innovative treatment paradigm will enhance success while significantly reducing stress and improving productivity for the dentist.
